September 2005:- This site was created as a repository for me to store my early attempts at digital astrophotography and perhaps to invite any suggestions from more experienced astrophotographers to tell me where I'm going wrong!  If looking through this site inspires you to go out and stare at the night sky in the freezing cold like a lunatic, then this would be an added bonus for me, although I don't think my pictures are good enough to do that.  For those of you who are interested, the links below will direct you to a) my equipment and software, the pictures I've taken - each with a write up on the conditions, b) the processing and problems I encountered achieving the end-product, and finally, c) my contact details should you wish to tell me how to do this properly.

2nd January 2006:-  since writing the introduction above, I would like to acknowledge with thanks, the assistance from Lee Hodge, Dick Gould (with lots of kit!), Nick Davies of Skyviewoptics, UK, and especially, Scott Roberts of Meade Inc., CA - who finally helped me solve my tracking problems during long exposure photography.

16th February 2007:- I HAVE BEEN TO AUSTRALIA!  This was my first trip to Oz, and my first time in the southern hemisphere.  What clean skies the Australians have - most of my observing was carried out in Castle Hill, just outside Sydney, where for the first time, I was able to see Centaurus, Crux, all the constellations that make up Argo Navis, Dorado, Tucana, the LMC and SMC, Reticulum and Eridanus in its entirety.  Two new pictures have been added to the deep sky page as a result of a wild night with my two pals, Brett Miller and Alan Halloran.  Much as I hate the word - click here for my BLOG of the event.

March 2007:- New equipment!  Spurred on by the experiences in Australia, I have purchased a digital SLR, modified for astrophotography.  Read about it in the equipment page.  I have also discovered how to make Envisage autoguide using the DSI.

August 2007:- yet more new equipment.  An apochromat refractor to mount on the LX90 - details in the equipment page.
